Shillong

Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya and also one of the famous hill stations of India. It also known as “The Abode of Clouds”. This city surrounded by amazing waterfalls, crystal clear lakes and impressive mountains. It is an ideal place to unwind amidst natural beauty and serenity.

Shillong is the favourite destination for British because of it’s beautiful lakes, waterfalls, pine forests and green mountains. The British developed this beautiful hill-stations during British Raj.

An earthquake destroyed the city in 1897, necessitating its complete rebuilding. In January 1972, Shillong became the capital of the newly formed state of Meghalaya.

The presence of many well reputed educational institutions, many of them established by various missionary groups make Shillong the hub of education for the entire north-east.
